Chapter 6.5

The power of blessing

Another thing that Sean shared with us and had us do this week, was praying out blessings over each other with the authority of God. We started this also on Thursday the 11th of October, and let me just say that I claim absolutely no fame in regards to the events that followed – it all belongs to the grace of God. That day, in the first exercise, I blessed [Soap] and then [Kira] did after me. Later that day [Soap] had a major breakthrough in experiencing God and the Holy Spirit manifesting in her.

Saturday the 13th of October, I went to Glasgow for vaccinations in preparation for the outreach to India. After a near catastrophe because of the trains not working, due to damage done by the storm the day before, I managed somehow to get to the clinic just a little late, but still in time to be helped. (Thanks majorly to the efficiency of Scotrail in repairing the damage in like no time at all. I just left an hour later than I wanted to.) After that ordeal had been dealt with, I decided to walk around and spend the day in Glasgow. Lunch time came and I found a Burger King and went in for a meal. I sat down at a window seat to eat. Halfway through my meal I noticed a beggar sitting across on the other side of the road, quietly, out of the way, bugging no one, just with a cup for coins. The rain was pouring down as it had been for the past 3 days, and he just looked so lonely and sad, and my heart was just filled with compassion for the guy. Not knowing what else to do at that point, I just (from across the road) began praying and blessing the guy who was probably in his later 30s. At first I wanted to write it off as co-incidence, but after praying and blessing him, more and more people who walked past stopped and gave him ‘donations.’ (Only after getting back to West Kilbride did I link those happenings with the blessings I prayed. Again I did absolutely nothing and can take no glory for it, it was all God!) One person stopped to talk to him for a while, then left; 2 more came and sat down with him and spoke to him. They all laughed. Later he had a group of 3 or 4 people standing around him talking and all the more ‘donations’ were pouring in. After finishing my meal, I had planned to go to the cinema. Instead, I decided to cross the road and went to talk to him myself. We spoke briefly, as I actually interrupted his conversation with one of the people who had stopped to talk to him. I can’t remember for sure, but I think he said his name is Andy. After that I just felt led to give him what I had intended to spend on cinema tickets. I received what I believe to be the most sincere thank you I’ve ever heard. Which was followed with a, “God bless you sir,” which was just as sincere. I fought back the tears for a little bit, but was just so awe-struck and overcome by Joy, and thanked God for being able to experience that. After all the blessing I did for him, I got blessed too.

Later that night I was spending time talking with [Soap], [Anda] and [Elf]. Soon both [Soap] and [Anda] were on the floor experiencing God and having manifestations of the Spirit again. There definitely was great joy in the air, and [Elf] and I proceeded to pray and bless them and their experience. I soon started to pray and bless [Elf] too, that she may join the other two in their experience. She moved closer, seemed to grow in confidence, finally lay hands on them, and then too was on the ground experiencing God. Again, by no means do I lay any claim to being the ‘reason’ for it, it’s all God. After that I left them as it was almost midnight and I was just too tired, but it felt good, like ‘mission accomplished.’ For me this week has just been a real blessing to bless others, and I thank God that He has shown Himself to me in this way, and I urge you not to hold back on blessing one another. I really believe in its fruits like never before, and would love for everyone else to experience it too.
